About OCNJ Boardwalk Shows

From the summer of 2016 through the summer of 2024, Bryan Woolbert performed as a freelance keyboard player and vocalist on the Ocean City, New Jersey boardwalk. Over the years, he upgraded his equipment from a mere 'toy' keyboard in 2016 all the way to a professional workstation-styled keyboard accompanied by an LED light show in 2024. This transformed his rudimentary performances into modern concert-styled shows. Though he is immensely grateful for all of the monetary tips and donations that he has received throughout the years, Woolbert's primary motivation for performing on the OCNJ boardwalk stemmed from his love for the Ocean City community at large. On August 31st, 2024, Woolbert announced his incredibly difficult decision to stop performing on the boardwalk due to some recent changes taking place in Ocean City, NJ. 

​As a licensed boardwalk entertainer, Bryan Woolbert fully complied with all of the laws and ordinances of Ocean City, New Jersey.

1. Why does Bryan Woolbert no longer perform on the Ocean City, NJ Boardwalk?

Due to some recent changes taking place in Ocean City, NJ, Bryan Woolbert has decided to move on from performing as a busker on the Ocean City, NJ Boardwalk. For a full explanation, please watch this announcement video. 

2. Can I get notified about when and where Bryan Woolbert will perform next?

Yes! To get direct notifications, join Bryan Woolbert's Official Fan Club. There is a Messenger group chat under Communities > Bryan Woolbert's Official Fan Club specifically dedicated to Live Music Performances. Be sure to enable notifications using the bell icon at the top right. Posts will also be published to the group on Facebook. Bryan also announces every public performance on his Instagram shortly before he begins performing.

Yes! You can obtain a boardwalk entertainer permit by following these instructions. 

7. How were the funds donated to Bryan Woolbert at Ocean City, NJ boardwalk shows used?

Funds received at Bryan Woolbert's boardwalk performances were used for such things as: 

• Costs of Boardwalk Shows: 
  • A percentage of all funds from each boardwalk show were given to his assistants for their transportation, setup and breakdown efforts.
  • Gas and Other Transportation Costs, Parking, and Meals/Snacks for Woolbert and his assistants 
  • ​Boardwalk Entertainer Permit: $200 was paid to the City of Ocean City in 2024 to obtain Bryan Woolbert's boardwalk entertainer permit. Prior to 2024, the fee for this permit was $50.
• ​Giving Back to the Businesses of Ocean City: 
  • ​Bryan Woolbert made a conscious effort to purchase items from many of the shops on the Ocean City, NJ boardwalk each summer using proceeds from his boardwalk shows in order to help them be more successful and to show respect, love, and kindness for their crucial contributions to the community as a whole. 
• Advancing Bryan Woolbert's career in music and technology. This may include but is not limited to:
  • ​Purchases of new music equipment for boardwalk and other live performances.
  • Purchases of new audio production equipment and software to be used for his future music releases and for his clients' projects. 
  • Maintenance costs of his music career, including those for this website, audio production software subscriptions, music equipment warranty and repair costs, and more. ​​
