EXTENDED SuMMARY
Extended SummaryBryan Woolbert was born at 4:44 PM on October 27th, 1998, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. At birth, Woolbert was diagnosed with an extremely rare eye condition known as microphthalmia cataract syndrome and was determined to be a legally blind person. From as early as preschool, he was able to sing perfectly in tune (thanks to Perfect Pitch) at a school concert. At home, he enjoyed playing with a Casio synthesizer keyboard and a professional karaoke speaker that his parents had left in the living room. Only a year after the family moved south to Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, Woolbert began classical piano instruction at age 7. While listening to music on his first iPod, it was discovered that he has Chromesthesia. The combination of perfect pitch and Chromesthesia enable Woolbert to learn, compose, and perform music completely by ear and memory. Woolbert composed his first original song at age 8 before his father left his family at age 10 and transitioned into a transgender woman. Over the course of the next few years, Woolbert grew increasingly frustrated with the inability to express his own creative musical ideas while performing classical music by traditional composers. He subsequently began expanding his musical style into several genres, including classic pop/rock, country, Christian praise & worship, new age, jazz/blues, soundtrack, and more. Around this time, Woolbert started performing piano and vocals at events for blindness awareness organizations, church congregations, school concerts, and more. During high school, he began performing in local talent competitions, as a karaoke singer at local venues, and as a freelance musician on the Ocean City, New Jersey boardwalk. For approximately one year beginning in grade 11, he took classical vocal instruction with legendary vocal coach Sal Dupree who helped to transform him into the vocalist that he is today. It was also during this time that Woolbert discovered his love for music production and began to gain professional studio experience. Although he was severely bullied throughout his senior high education, Woolbert obtained the AVID® Pro Tools User Certification for Version 12 shortly before graduating as salutatorian from CharterTech High School for the Performing Arts in 2017. From the fall of 2017 through the spring of 2019, Woolbert studied Worship & Music at Cairn University. During his time at Cairn, he performed in the university’s jazz ensemble and gospel choir. He also served as a professional live light and sound engineer for the university’s traveling worship band “On the Way” during the Spring 2018 semester. As he acquired considerable knowledge in both classical and jazz music theory, Woolbert recognized a familiar frustration with strict genre-based limitations which prompted him to compose jazz pieces in his own style. Meanwhile, he was also working with expert producer Kit Worton on his original Christian worship songs and new age tunes. He released his first two EPs and a single to all major streaming platforms in 2018. Woolbert’s desire to learn more about audio production propelled him to make a transfer to Rowan University in time for the Fall 2019 semester. At Rowan, he gained tremendous knowledge about the music business, audio production, live sound engineering, physics, and much more before graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry: Technology in 2022. By this time, Woolbert had also released 2 additional singles, an EP, and a music video to all major streaming platforms. He produced a majority of this music himself using his own Pro Tools | Ultimate system. Shortly after graduation, Woolbert attended the 2022 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California and gained additional knowledge about acoustics, immersive audio, and the ever-increasing role of artificial intelligence within the music industry, just to name a few topics. Later that year, he studied for and obtained the AVID® Pro Tools Operator of Music Certification for Version 2021 through Itec Audio Studios. For more than 15 years, Woolbert has performed piano and vocals at dozens of venues across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including at major casinos in Atlantic City, on the Ocean City NJ Boardwalk, and many more. He has written nearly 50 songs across several genres and continues to compose new music in his spare time. His advanced knowledge and unique experience in audio production and live sound engineering truly set him apart in the music technology realm. His music business acumen catapults him ahead of the competition as he markets his music and others’. Today, Woolbert aspires to forge a career in music performance and audio engineering with a vision to bring positive change to the music industry through his music compositions, performances, productions, and future technological innovations.
